Anyone else think this is getting a bit too cluttered?

Yes! It is not at all clear how users should add entries.

Yeah, we are working on a total rewrite of this, It'll break the ten word formula but for the front page we think its kind of important that everything is clear and explained fully.

My suggestions (forgive me in advance — but I think the reason this incredible concept hasn't caught on more is the confusing interface)
1) The landing page should highlight the encyclopedia, not the tedious process! Most readers will never even consider editing — so use links for the editing sections, e.g., "How to Create An Entry" that links to another page. I respectfully disagree that the front page should NOT explain everything (what is less fun than being explained something) — but should make clear where to go next
2) There should be a clearly delineated link to the index featured near the top of the page
3) Anything said in a paragraph of text should instead be said with a bullet point and a screen shot, if needed. The only confusing piece of editing is having to search for a word (and log in) in order to get the edit button — lead with this and make it clear, and people will basically intuit the rest so you barely need to touch on it
4) The functionality to add a hyperlink to text is pervasive on the web, so I don't think you need to explain in more than a sentence or two. Explain why it's fun to do, and then spend single a sentence on how. I would actually collapse links and the other good editing ideas into some type of numbered 'Helpful Hints for Better Entries'
5) User don't understand what the 'People' and 'Bookmarks' tabs are for - can you get rid of them? There should be a tab that is the index, instead
Thanks for listening, love the site!!

Hey Ryan thanks for all that, is this any better? I'm not entirely sure what the tabs are for either but have put an index link back on the front page if thats any help.
We don't know whats wrong/ needs tweaking unless folks tell us and we aim to please! thanks Ben

I noticed that "Ten Word Wiki - The Express Till For The Internet" is only nine words long. Someone should probably fix that. And unless "express till" has a meaning I am unaware of, it doesn't really make any sense.

That is probably the dumbest mistake we have made so far, I'm on it!

This is kind of amazing... But can we require that articles are capitalized? It's rather annoying. —Baker

Don't know where to put this kind of this so spamming it into this space:

You're going to need some pages styled like this:

[WWW]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ring

to account for different things with similar names.

-You can just do that yourself, can't you? Just move the article that's there now to name_(something) and make a link to in in name. Sure, it won't have ten words that way, but I think that best for the sake of clarity. —timvdalen
